This piece combines the familiar warmth of a family portrait with whimsical animal imagery, celebrating both the realistic and the fun side of my family relationships. Focusing on the body and humor, and I chose to reinterpret a family photo from my sweet 16 by transforming each family member into an animal of their choosing. My brother, Diego, became a bison; my mom, a giraffe; my dad, a rockhopper penguin; and I, a manatee.
