Created during Chris Valle's Experimental Pro-Series Workshop at the University of Tampa from January 10-12, 2025, Tampeño is a large-scale experimental painting. As a first-generation Cuban American, I incorporated my personal narrative into the work, using layering, sanding, and cross-hatching techniques along with house paints. The piece honors the pride, beauty, and resilience of Cuban culture while also reflecting the immigrant-founded spirit of Tampa, FL.
